How to use an olive oil hair mask to make your hair shine
If your have frizzy hair, or fine and fragile hair, I think you know what type of battler we must go through in order to keep our locks shiny and healthy. From spritzing on leave in magical conditioners to hair milks to taking collagen and biotin supplements, these all definitely help your hair look its best, but why not turn to the more natural side of things and try out some “old-school“ hair treatments?
One such hair hero that you can find in your kitchen, however, could save the day: an olive oil hair mask.
Olive oil – good for your health and great for your hair
Olive oil is a staple in the Mediterranean diet, but beauty pros also say it’s key for hair health – mainly because of its essential fatty acids and vitamins.
Among its beneficial ingredients we can count vitamins A and E, antioxidants, and omega-3 fatty acids, which infuse hair with hydration.
Besides delivering all sorts of healthy nutrients to your lengths, olive oil can also help prevent hair damage.
A study that showd the importance of oils in maintaining healthy hair concluded that they protect the hair from damage by penetrating the hair shaft, reducing the amount of water the hair can absorb, which prevents swelling at the hair shaft.
Basically this will offer protection from the damage over a period of time.T
In the same study, researchers also found that the hair can absorb saturated and mono-saturated oils better than polyunsaturated ones, which leads them to believe that the oil you reach for does matter, and it just so happens olive oil is a good pick.
It gives your hair shine, it offers it protection and nourishment, while also taking care of frizz.
The best part is that all hair types can use an olive oil hair mask. If you have finer hair, though, she recommends starting with a few drops to avoid weighting your hair down, while those with thicker, coarser hair can apply more to see results. If you have oily hair, do “the procedures” once a month, but if you have course, dry, or curly hair, you could do it as often as once a week.
But let’s cut to the chase and see what the best olive oil hair mask formulation is.
